My favorite projects are the ones that quietly remove friction from a daily routine. I've spent more than a decade building software, and the thing I enjoy most hasn't changed: hearing someone say "oh, that's so much easier now." That's the whole goal.
When I'm not building, you'll usually find me chasing a better cup of coffee, tinkering with a side project, or out enjoying the slower pace of small-town Illinois.
